About
LA Color PRO is a color management and fine art printing support company for those who are passionate about their work and would like to achieve the highest quality results possible. Founded by Andrew Behla, a printing professional with 20 years of experience in all phases of the digital imaging industry, LA Color PRO offers onsite or remote solutions that will help “dial you in”. From color calibration of displays, print, photography to scanning and fine art production, LA Color PRO can sharpen the tools in your digital imaging toolbox to achieve greater accuracy and consistency while saving time and materials. Behla has used color management workflows from his early days in magazine publishing, created a fine art printing and color management curriculum and series of classes at UCLA Extension, has lectured at national seminars and is a team member of HP’s Influencers Group for digital fine art printers.
Behla explains, “if you are a designer, photographer, printmaker or digital imaging professional, you owe it to yourself to work in a color calibrated environment. Like a finely tuned machine, there are specific steps that can be taken to improve your digital workflow. The end result is greater accuracy at every step of the process from scanning or capture to display to final output. Output can take many forms: the web, ink jet printer, or offset lithography, and because of this one needs to be able to translate the color spaces to suit the output. In the early days, I thought color management was impossible; I was always told not to trust my monitor. But I’ve become a proponent of a color managed workflow because my own work and the work of my clients has become so much more consistent and effective.”
LA Color PRO can help you calibrate your monitors, scanners and printers so that they can communicate with each other, and the seemingly chaotic world of color can exist in harmony. “There’s freedom with color management; your monitor matches your printer as well as your output. Suddenly you can focus on being more creative and intuitive with your design, imaging or production work.” Behla is also the founder of Canyon Editions, a boutique fine art print studio located in Woodland Hills, CA (Los Angeles).
